Azaria comes to us from Vallejo, California. As a medical student, she served as the founding president for White Coats for Black Lives at her medical school and led the DEI efforts at her institution. She was appointed to the national Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) Diversity Taskforce and served an integral role in rewriting and drafting new standards. She also led the SNMA chapter, served on student government for 4 years, and served on the executive board for a free clinic. She also participated in research focused on disparities in surgical procedures and medical practices in relation to food deserts. She has a strong interest in understanding food deserts and food insecurity. In her free time, she enjoys salsa dancing, sketching, and hiking. She has an interest in a future career as a generalist, including outpatient transition, care for the uninsured, and hospital medicine time. We are excited to see how Azaria’s passions will evolve and serve the community over the next 4 years here in Miami!
