Bethany grew up in the small northeastern Mississippi town of Amory, which is known for being the midpoint between the Memphis and Birmingham railroads. From there, she moved an hour to Oxford and worked to obtain her BA in Biochemistry at the University of Mississippi. She then made the move to Mississippi’s state capital, Jackson, to complete medical school at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. During her time in medical school, she found a love for service, leading her to serve as the Associated Student Body Philanthropy Chair during her final years. She found herself spending many Saturdays in the student-run local Jackson Free Clinic that provides basic medical care for homeless or uninsured residents, and she traveled abroad on multiple public health missions that established sustainable medical care for communities in Uganda and Peru. She was also a co-founder for Camp Uplift, a day camp for developmentally different adults and children. These experiences ultimately led to her choosing a career in Med/Peds!
She is so excited to be a part of the JMH Med/Peds family, even if it’s a 2-day drive from her home in Amory! Bethany has always loved finding local adventures, trying new restaurants, and taking her dog, Melon, for long walks. If you can’t find her, just know that she’s probably taking a really good, long nap.
In residency, he has been a co-leader of the Med Peds Clinic Advanced Care Planning Curriculum, a QI project with her now-fiancé, Ankur. She is currently looking for Med-Peds hospitalist jobs upon graduation from residency.
