Emily is from Newton, Massachusetts. As an undergraduate, she studied physics and became interested in research that combined medicine and physics, first studying the properties of mucous and later developing mouse models of immunotherapy using PET imaging. As a medical student, she developed an interest in health equity, primary care and the history of primary care, participating in the “Bedside Rounds” podcast episode on disparities in dental care in the United States. She developed a passion for suicide prevention as a longstanding volunteer at Samaritans Suicide Hotline.
In residency, Emily joined the Internal Medicine Med-Ed pathway. As chief resident, she is working on improving medical student teaching at the Center for Haitian Studies and starting a Med-Peds case conference series.
When not at work, Emily can be found walking on the beach with her husband Suhas and dog Punky, rock climbing at the gym, and baking desserts to bring to noon conference!
