Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

Lily Ostrer was born and raised in New York City, where she grew up with a strong interest in local politics and a love for the subway. She received a BA in Social Studies from Harvard University. Focusing on the field of Science and Technology, she wrote an undergraduate thesis on early childhood policy and the science of child development. There she also developed a passion for organizing with the Student Global AIDS Campaign.

Lily returned to NYC to attend the Mount Sinai School of Medicine through the Humanities and Medicine Early Acceptance program. In medical school, she was committed to combating segregation in New York City hospitals working closely with the NYC Coalition to Dismantle Racism in the Health System. She co-facilitated a course on racism in medicine, Deconstructing Race in Medicine and Health, and served on the steering committee of Students for a National Health Program. She also co-founded the Mount Sinai Harm Reduction Coalition, an organization dedicated to addressing and preventing overdose and teaching medical students the principles of harm reduction strategies. She was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Lily is incredibly excited and honored to join the Jackson Med/Peds family and to work with her amazing co-residents to serve our community in Miami. She hopes that working in the public hospital system will allow her to continue working towards a health care system that better serves the health and wellness needs of all people. Outside of work, she likes to be involved in local political organizing and loves to run, cook, and unsuccessfully grow an indoor garden.
