B.A. Computer Science, Georgetown UniversityMaya is originally from Florida and Maryland. As a medical student, Maya developed a deep interest in advocacy, health equity, and social justice. She served as the co-director of the Chicago’s People’s Right Collaborative, an organization dedicated to assisting people seeking asylum. She has been a health equity advocate, with an interest in the care for the incarcerated, immigrant health, and refugee health. She was also a representative on the Health Equity Curriculum Committee. Prior to medical school, she worked in education and technology, and spent six months living abroad. She has also been inducted as a member of AOA. As a future physician, Maya is interested in primary care and potentially inpatient care, with a focus on complex patients. We are excited to have Maya join our Med-Peds family and see how her future as a physician advocate unfolds over the next 4 years!
