University of Miami Miller School of Medicine

Roberto was born in Puerto Rico and traveled to the mainland United States when he was 3 years old. A son of two pediatricians, Roberto was immediately enamored with the pediatric practice; spending his after-school care in the waiting room of his parents’ practice entertaining patients. He forged his own path by attending the University of Miami and majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Philosophy, later attending the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where his love for internal medicine and transitional medicine emerged. Roberto is a triple Cane rounding off his career at Jackson. He has a younger sister with whom he shares the same birthday two years apart and met his wife at the University of Miami. He is an avid sports/movie/music fan of all tastes. 

During medical school, Roberto attended various mission trips in the Dominican Republic as part of the Medical Students in Action (MSA) team serving as a liaison between the core care group permanently in the Dominican Republic and the MSA program in the United States. He conducted research in the University of Miami focusing on transitional care for children with special health care needs. His career focus will be to bridge the gap between pediatrics and internal medicine practice and dedicate his time to global heath initiatives.
