Stephanie was born and raised in Oklahoma City, OK where she almost became a Sooner for life until she decided to become a member of the Med-Peds family at Jackson/UMH! She received dual degrees, a Bachelor of Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with honors at the University of Oklahoma. She stayed on at the University of Oklahoma for medical school where she became the two-term President for the University of Oklahoma Community Health Alliance (OUCHA), a community service-oriented organization that works to develop compassionate and empathetic healthcare professionals while exposing medical students to the challenges of providing health care with limited resources. During her time as a medical student she also served as the AAMC Student Delegate for her class; chaired two state-wide conferences: Bridges to Access (a conference about bridging gaps in healthcare for the underinsured/underserved) and Representing Oklahoma and Diversity Conference; and was the Mentorship Chair for the University of Oklahoma’s American Medical Women’s Association.
Stephanie fell in love with Jackson/UMH due to the entire campus’s deep commitment to delivering healthcare to the populations who need it the most but can’t always get access to quality care. In addition, she admired how the hospitals in the program see an array of diverse and complicated pathologies and the curriculum caters to all her interests including: global health, advocacy, and mentorship. The best part is all of this happens while encouraging the pursuit of knowledge of medicine for all ages and backgrounds.
In her free time, Stephanie LOVES to play Pokemon. She’s never missed a single community day in Pokemon Go and has collected all the Pokemon across the main series to date. Her goal is to also start a regular Animal Crossing hangout with the other video game lovers on the IM and Peds sides.
