Medical educator track

During my time on the Med Ed track, I had the privilege of honing my teaching skills and expanding my understanding of evidence-based medicine. The program included a two-week dedicated teaching elective, where we learn the concept of “backwards design” in medical education, practice developing learning objectives, and learn our leadership styles. It also involves pre-tending experiences that allow us to practice leading a team with more autonomy. A highlight was attending a conference which was focused on not only learning evidence-based practice but being able to effectively teach its core concepts. One of the most rewarding aspects was the opportunity to work closely with two outstanding mentors, Dr. Brown and Dr. Van Kirk, who guide us throughout the process. Additionally, I formed stronger bonds with some of the hospital’s most talented and fun co-residents. Completing the track has not only made me a better medical educator, but has also deepened my understanding of academic medicine and made me a better doctor and leader.
