Global health Track
Global health track members at Jackson/UMiami come from a variety of different backgrounds in global health. I previously worked in global health for a few years prior to medical school and thus joined the global health track to have guaranteed time during residency to continue developing this passion and skill set. Through the global health track, I have been able to learn and working clinically in both Honduras and in the Bahamas. The track has allowed me to collaborate with the University of Miami Global Institute for Community Health and Development on clinical and health systems strengthening efforts in the Bahamas, including disaster preparedness and resiliency for pediatric populations. I am thankful to be part of a track that is flexible enough to allow residents to choose institutions and projects they want to work with but also has ongoing long term sustainable global health work to learn from and join. Additionally, I was able to support the development of our current global health curriculum, which was created by an alumnus who is now in a global health fellowship. This global health curriculum is now being adopted by the medical school and other residencies at Jackson/UMiami. My favorite part of the track (and Jackson/UMiami in general) is the incredible community of people from all over the world - you learn so much and only gain from the variety of experiences.
